Sheba was relinquished to a high kill shelter in the Carolinas. Her time was up and she was one of the last to be put on the transport to Maryland. Sheba is labeled a Shih Tzu, but others think a Lhasa Apso. She is about 8 years old and is very assertive, and in charge. Sheba enjoy wandering around the backyard smelling every blade of grass as if it were for the first time. She LOVES walking on a leash. Sheba is learning what treats are and regular feeding. She has to sniff everything over and decide if she's willing to try a new treat, or broccoli or apples. She is very curious but doesn't want to show it. She didn't like being touched, but now she accepts butt scratches and quick pets on her head, shoulders or back. Sheba was also put on an anti-inflammatory because her back legs are very arthritic and that has helped her disposition as well. Sheba doesn't seem to have had a great previous life, she's a real pal, and may actually turn into a cuddlier once she works through her need to protect herself. She would do best in an adult home. She likes to chase cats, but she is being fostered with them and only bothers them if she's bored. She likes running with the pack of dogs here, but pretty much stays by herself. If a dog is rude she will be rude back. If you are interested in a fun challenging lady. She's housetrained and enjoys the outdoors. Send us an application and we'll set up a meet! Apply at: http://caninehumane.org/adoption-application/ Adoption Fee is $150 She is up to date on vaccines and has had a wellness exam, heartworm tested and micro-chipped. When Duke’s family moved, they didn’t take him with them. Aw! This poor displaced guy has not lost his happy go lucky nature or smile. Duke likes playing with fellow furry friends and enjoys the company of people. He is house trained and knows a few commands. His favorite place to be is outdoors so he needs a yard - and a fenced one. A bit of a free spirit he does not love being leashed but will allow it begrudgingly. He wants to play in the yard all day. He is on the larger size so we recommend he go to a home with bigger kids. If you like big dogs (and you can not lie) and have a fenced backyard, Duke would be happy to become a permanent fixture there and in your life. Adoption Fee is $350 He is up to date on vaccines and has had a wellness exam, heartworm tested and micro-chipped. In order to meet any of our dogs, please fill out an application. THE DOGS IN PHOTO(s) ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION https://caninehumane.org/how-to-help/foster/ Do you want to care for another dog? Are you home during the day? Canine Humane Network is looking for foster homes for its rescue dogs. Fostering a dog is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. By taking a homeless dog temporarily into your home you are giving your foster dog the time he needs to be ready for adoption and saving him from terrible conditions or in many cases, euthanasia. In addition, you are helping us learn more about the dog so he can end up in the best possible permanent home. Lastly, you are socializing the dog to a home environment and providing him with love and attention, helping your foster dog to grow in confidence and become a happy, well-adjusted pet! So what exactly does fostering entail? When you become a foster, you agree to take a homeless dog into your home and provide care, love, and shelter while the adoption team finds a perfect forever home for your visitor. CHN provides you with all of the food, supplies, and support you need; all you need is a passion for helping dogs in need! If you are interested in fostering a dog in need, please click the link below and fill out a new foster application! We can’t wait for you to become part of our team! https://caninehumane.org/how-to-help/foster/
