Vixen came from a cruel situation in Louisiana. She was abandoned and left to live outside. Her owners just moved away and left her outside of the trailer home. Thank goodness a wonderful rescue group rescued her and got her to the vet. She was only 3 pounds and her jaw was broken and she needed surgery right away. She was transported to Maryland and put directly into loving foster home. We actually did a huge fundraiser for her surgery before she even got here, She was loved by so many before she came. We are so thankful to everyone that donated. From Vixens Foster Mom: It takes sweet little Vixen at least a day or so being with people to trust, but when she is submerged into a situation she adapts and latches on pretty fast. She is such a sweetie pie when she warms up. She does great playing with my 22 pounds female and she actually even played with a 50 pound male that I was fostering also, She is super sweet and lovable to her person that she trusts, She loves to be held and to sit on your lap or next to you on the couch, She follows you around and just wants to be near you, She goes potty outside but also will go on pee pads inside. She loves her toys and a cozy little bed to lay She is 5 pounds. She is such a doll but she really is just a one or two people dog. Vixen needs an adult home, but she is just now warming up to my 14 year old daughter. Maybe a home with older kids but she definitely prefers adults more. Adoption Fee is $350 She is up to date on vaccines and has had a wellness exam, heart worm tested, fecal test, and micro-chipped. Vixen is also spayed. To fill out an application go to www.caninehumane.org The quickest way to get a response is by putting in an application! Someone will get back to you as quickly as possible. Thanks!

Howard is such a sweet and gentle guy. He is 3 years old 53 pounds. He loves when kids come over to visit and he plays really well with them. Inside he wants to lay at your feet with his squeaky toy and get head and belly rubs. He is good with cats, he wants to say hello but will walk away as soon as they hiss or growl. He doesn't like his crate much but he is housebroken and a total gentleman when left alone in the house. He could use some manners on the leash but he doesn't pull on the our everyday walks, he just likes to zig zag in front of you while he sniffs everything. He wants to say hello everyone (human and dog) but is easy to distract him with a simple pat on the head or say come on to continue the walk. He would love to have a home with either kids or another dog to be his friend (maybe a dog friendly cat too) and a fenced in area to play. He is such a great family dog and he would make anyone super happy. Adoption Fee is $350 He is up to date on vaccines and has had a wellness exam, heart worm tested, fecal test, and micro-chipped. Hi, my name is Bandit and I am hoping you will consider me for my forever home. I am such a sweet guy. I LOVE long walks and am really good on a leash. I do not pull at all. I love sitting outside in the sunshine. It makes me really happy to be close to my human - I will lean up against you for love and I and give lots of snuggles and big sloppy kisses. I can be a little timid and shy when you first meet me, but it doesn't take long for me to warm up quickly...I promise to steal your heart away. Everyone says I have the PERFECT energy level. I love play time but love down time just as much and will follow your lead. I am a gentle giant and very easy to take care of. Everyone who meets me loves me and I'm sure you will too! It would make me so happy to go home. I'm such a good boy that my kennel is ALWAYS clean 🙂 Bandit needs to be in a family with older children 16+. Come on! You know you need me! Adoption Fee is $350 He is up to date on vaccines and has had a wellness exam, heart worm tested, fecal test, and micro-chipped. Jackie is a sweet little 4/5 month old girl. This poor girl was homeless, cold and hungry before she came to Canine Humane. She was so lucky to be rescued from the side of a busy road in rural West Virginia! She came to us with a non-contagious skin infection and has been treated for that. Her skin and coat have improved so much! Her little bald skin spots are growing in little by little. She is so pretty with green eyes and chocolaty fur coloring. She is eager to please, very sweet, and very smart (she learned sit in just about ten minutes). She really enjoys playing with our older lab mix and was eager to follow her (and us) around everywhere too- which makes us think she will be good with other dogs. She enjoys walking on a leash and was not trying to mouth it or grab it like some puppies. Best of all, if you sit down on the floor near her she cuddles right up in your lap. I think she wants to be a lap dog, but that may only last so long as she gets bigger - but she will still think she's a lap dog. She will make a great pet and canât wait to meet her forever family. Adoption Fee is $325 with Spay/Neuter Contract. A separate $100 deposit will be collected but will be returned after we receive the spay/neuter certificate for your puppy at 6 months of age. Applications are required prior to meeting the puppy. Please go to caninehumane.org and click on Adopt.. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration.

Sammy is rescued from from a cruelty case in South Carolina. He comes mentally-challenged owners who did not understand they had to feed their dogs. Sammy is one of the many rescued dogs. Amazingly, he is as sweet as they come. About Sweet Sammy: Sammy looks to be quite a few breeds, so your guess is as good as ours! He has long legs and a curly tail, adorable spots and soft fur. I see beagle but lots of other breeds too. He is a mix of love and a rescue favorite among the staff. He is such a loving boy! He plays well with most of the other dogs at the shelter. Does better with lower energy dogs. Doesn't care for "hyper in his face dogs". He is great on a leash! No pulling. He is working on house training. His kennel is always clean so he just needs a routine and consistency to get it 100 percent. We are using a belly band on Sammy to nip this in the bud. He is extremely intelligent...so it should not take long! He is always happy to meet and love on any new people he meets. Enjoys his play time with his shelter buddies. He is active yet calm when it's time to settle down. He is such a good boy! He is about 27 pounds and the vet thinks he should gain a few more pounds. He loves chew treats like bully sticks and toys. I need to be the "only" dog in the family and with an experienced dog lover 🙂 He is a shelter favorite! 🙂 Adoption Fee is $350 Sammy is up to date on vaccines and has had a wellness exam, heart worm tested, neutered, fecal test, and micro-chipped. Honey was abandoned by her owners in October just after giving birth to her newborn puppies. The owners were arrested and she was left outside with her puppies for several days before rescue came. Thankfully Honey and her puppies were rescued and all of her puppies were adopted. She has been in a loving foster home and doing great!. She is pretty amazing! She is house trained, does great with people and other dogs, She is just a happy wiggle butt. She does need to have someone patient to work on her pulling when leash walking but we will be getting her used to a front clip harness. She would be a great active dog for an active family! Long walks and hikes, a fenced yard would really be great for Honey! She is just an all around great dog looking for her forever family!

THE DOGS IN PHOTO ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Do you want to care for another dog? Are you home during the day? Canine Humane Network is looking for foster homes for its rescue dogs. Fostering a dog is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. By taking a homeless dog temporarily into your home you are giving your foster dog the time he needs to be ready for adoption and saving him from terrible conditions or in many cases, euthanasia. In addition, you are helping us learn more about the dog so he can end up in the best possible permanent home. Lastly, you are socializing the dog to a home environment and providing him with him love and attention, helping your foster dog to grow in confidence and become a happy, well adjusted pet! So what exactly does fostering entail? When you become a foster, you agree to take a homeless dog into your home and provide care, love and shelter while the adoption team finds a perfect forever home for your visitor. CHN provides you with all of the food, supplies and support you need; all you need is a passion for helping dogs in need! If you are interested in fostering a dog in need, please click the link below and fill out a new foster application! We canât wait for you to become part of our team! http://www.caninehumane.org/copy-of-foster-application NOTE: You will be REQUIRED to pass a home visit prior to your being accepted as a foster home.
